Hello!

My name is Brien Frail and I am a teacher candidate at the Thompson River University in Kamloops. This website is not only a collection of my experiences as a teacher candidate at TRU, but also a reflection of my passion for teaching and learning. There is plenty of pages exploring my experiences and passion for teaching and education, so I am going to write a little bit about who I am as a person. As I said before, my name is Brien Frail. I am a 25-year-old male, who is currently living in Kamloops British Columbia. Although I am living in Kamloops, I would not call it my home. The place in which I call home is Chilliwack British Columbia, a small farm town maybe 3 hours away from Kamloops. I was born and raised in Chilliwack, spending most of my life in that small town. I spent 24 years of my life living in Chilliwack, growing into the person that I am today. Chilliwack was where I attended my first university, the University of the Fraser Valley. At UFV is where I discovered my passion for education and teaching, setting me down the path towards becoming an educator. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in History and English. Although I would have loved to have stayed at UFV to complete my education, I believed it was time for a change in my life. I had spent a large chunk of my life in Chilliwack and my acceptance into the teaching program at TRU provided me with the opportunity to make that change. Although Kamloops was quite the change, it was a change that I embraced to succeed in this next chapter of my life. Like any person, I too have hobbies. With how intense this program can be at times, finding that time for hobbies is sometimes difficult. That being said, I believe that a balance is necessary for living a healthy life. I personally love food and cooking. I find nothing more rewarding than cooking an amazing meal for someone, knowing how delicious it is. With some of my free time, I explore different recipes and foods. When I find a meal that intrigues me, I practice my hardest to master that recipe. As soon as I master one recipe and cook the food for both myself and others, I find a new recipe in which I would like to learn. I am always willing to learn and try something new, it is a part of my personality. I am always trying to push myself forward as an individual, to be the best version of myself. I try my best to surround myself with people who are different than myself, people who are willing to push me and help me grow as a person. This passion for growth is one of the reasons that I fell in love with teaching. Teaching is learning and learning is teaching. My goal is to become an educator but to never stop learning and growing.
